Q My friend has really gross B.O. People are always going, “What’s that smell?” And it’s her. I really like her. But kids at school make fun of her when she’s not around. Should I tell her?

A If you don’t, someone else will. They may not do it as kindly as you will. How you go about telling her is important. It will have a lot to do with how she takes it. It’s best done in private, not in front of a group. Here’s how two other girls did it.

“We were alone in my bedroom. I said, ‘Woooeee, girlfriend, you stink. Use some of this pleeze. Before I die.’ I was shoving this big old thing of deodorant at her. I was acting all loud and crazy and laughing. But she got the hint.”
